Is blockchain the ideal solution for guaranteeing greater traceability?

By Alain Broustail, Head of Blockchain at Coexya and Talan, Chairman of Blockchain EZ

Blockchain and traceability: a strategic duo?

Faced with growing demands for traceability and transparency in industry, blockchain is emerging as a promising technology for guaranteeing the integrity of the data used to trace a product’s history, track its production stages and secure the information exchanged between customers, suppliers and other economic partners.

Alain Broustail, Director of our Blockchain and Transparency activities, explores the issue in an article published on Technique de l’Ingénieur. Entitled ‘Blockchain for traceability – useful but subject to certain conditions’, the article analyses how blockchain is helping to meet the challenges of reliability and compliance in industry.

Why blockchain for traceability?

Immutability and transparency

Every transaction recorded is forgery-proof, ensuring rigorous tracking of products and raw materials.

Decentralisation

Information is shared between several players, making data manipulation virtually impossible.

Automation via smart contracts

Reducing human error and optimising processes through automated digital exchanges.
